Precious Minds aims to provide safe, relevant, and structured programmes throughout the year to individuals who experience developmental challenges. These programs vary considerably as they target the different developmental needs of our clients across the age span. For details of these programmes, please see the list at the bottom of this page. Click on a program title for a description, times, fees and registration information.

Adult Day Program: The ART STUDIO

The Art Studio

The Art Studio provides meaningful and creative work opportunities for adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities in our community. Participants will develop skills and create art products while engaging socially in a safe and structured environment.

Dates: Thursdays, starting September, 2016

Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM  *Bring along your lunch and snacks

Location: Uxbridge Baptist Church, 231 Brock Street West, Uxbridge *Enter by back door entrance, take stairs to lower level

Cost:  $40/session (must pre-book) or $20/half day

Lego Friendship Club

Lego Friendship Club

A structured social opportunity for kids ages 8-12 on the autism spectrum or with a learning disability, designed to support cooperative play and friendship building skills utilizing Lego™. In small groups, participants take turns being the engineer, supplier and builder, collaborating to complete cool kits and experience success as a team! Group size limited to 8.

Entering its 4th year, this community-based social opportunity for teens and young adults facilitates regular physical activity, skill-building and camaraderie with an emphasis on members celebrating their overall TEAM SCORE and friendships nurtured cheering for each other and the “love of the game”!

Dates: Tuesday evenings, January 17 – March 7, 2017

Time: 7:00 pm – 8:15 pm

Fitness Zone -- SWIM

Fitness Zone — SWIM

On it’s 8th year, this community partnership program is designed to support physical activity, water safety and swimming skill development within a FUN and socially-inclusive context.  Each afternoon is structured and predictable, incorporating group games, dedicated time for practicing skills and assessed individual goals (i.e. breathing strategies, front/back floats, stroke development, diving and building endurance). The group is led by a qualified instructor and participants are paired with volunteer high school students (buddies) from arrival on the pool deck to parent pick up.  Each session wraps up with a celebration of individual successes. Group size limited to 8. 

SWIM Uxbridge

Dates: Thursdays after school, February 2 – March 30, 2017

Time: 3:00 pm – 3:45 pm

Location: Uxpool, 1 Parkside Drive, Uxbridge

BLAZE Summer Camp


With ‘spring in our step’, we’re launching into the 2017 summer camp season at Precious Minds!

In keeping with our commitment to support individuals in our community (children, youth and those transitioning into adulthood), we are pleased to share the following new program developments:

  • FUSION camp, designed to support individuals 18 years and older
  • 1-Week camp program options
  • Theme-oriented weeks to appeal to the interests, strengths, and different ways individuals learn
  • Program elements to further cultivate skills for life within a community setting alongside peers, led by trained and passionate staff and Volunteers

BLAZE Camp – a fun, inspiring and individualized structured support program for kids (5 – 12 yrs) and teens (13 – 17 yrs) with a developmental disability.

CONNECT Camp – an engaging ‘one of a kind’ opportunity for kids (7 – 12 yrs) and teens (13 – 17) with a diagnosis of high-functioning autism, ADHD, mild intellectual disability, etc. To make new friends and further develop social skills while enjoying co-operative games, physical activity, ART studio, and culinary skill-building.

FUSION Camp – a summer day experience for adults (18+ yrs) designed to engage and inspire those transitioning into adulthood.  Participants will explore a variety of physical, recreational, and creative activities in an environment that supports life and social skill growth.

COST: Program fees per week of camp are $275 ($220 for BLAZE Kids Discover Canada! – 4 day program)
